‘Abd al-Husayn Mu‘azzaz al-Mulk to Surur al-Saltanah
‘Abd al-Husayn Mu‘azzaz al-Mulk (Taymurtash)'s letter to Surur al-Saltanah, writing about the relationships of men and women in Europe, that Iranian men dismiss their own wives and look for love and pleasure outside of their marriage while it is different in Europe, as men and women love each other and they prefer to spend their time with each other rather than with others. However, this is not Iranians' fault either, as they sometime are married when they are five or six, without their personal choice. He then thanks God that Surur is a perfect mate and says that he truly loves her....

‘Abd al-Husayn Mu‘azzaz al-Mulk (Taymurtash)'s letter to his wife, Surur al-Saltanah, telling her that he was writing this letter in the middle of the night while she is either asleep or in mourning [for Tasu‘a] and is not thinking of him, yet Mu‘azzaz al-Mulk is only thinking of her even though it is Tasu‘a [the 9th day of Muharram] instead of mourning for Imam Husayn. He apologizes for not being able to come to the Rawzah and tells her that he will bring this letter himself tomorrow since he is going to see Fakham al-Saltanah, so that they would go to Sardar Hishmat together. Settlement between Layli, the daughter of Muhammad Vali Bayg, and Mirza Muhammad ʻAli, in which she settles all of her belongings--clothes, dishes, cash and bonds, properties, and household furnishings--for some salt and pennies in order for Mirza Muhammad ʻAli to spend 11 tumans for taʻziyah and 10 tumans for prayers [to be said for her] after her death. After payment of the religious tithe, he should spend the rest on taʻziyah for Imam Husayn.

Mashhadi Habib, the son of the late Husayn ‘Amu, appoints his younger brother, Ni‘mat, as the executor of his will and Karbalayi ‘Askar, the son of ‘Ali Pasha, as the overseer while he [Mashhadi Habib] travels to Karbalaʼ. They are responsible for giving ten mans [unit of area] of his share of a garden to his wife, Munavvar, as her mahr. A third of his belongings should be in Ni‘mat's hands for use on khums, the payment of his debts, ta‘ziyah, and charity.
